Wray Ward

Wray Ward is one of the Charlotte market's most respected and well-known marketing and advertising agencies. They were quickly growing and needing more space and especially more public presence. Their old upfit space in the 5th floor of a building was not visible or accessible enough so they sought to own a street-front building and renovate it to reflect their personality. Settling on a building close to Uptown Charlotte, Redline was utilized to give the building a make-over inside and out.
On the exterior, two building entry elements were created using wood paneling and aluminum accents to highlight their logo. The exterior storefront system was removed and replaced and alum. canopies were added over strategic windows to further detail the building. The old brick was painted and a new accessible ramp and stair were added with stainless steel railings.
On the interior, Redline sought to clearly reflect Wray Ward's philosophy of clean, simple design with clarity of thought and purpose. The interior is a well-organized plan of smooth white walls with recessed display slots in strategic locations. The conference rooms have etched glass for privacy while letting light to permeate the adjacent spaces. Strong accent color ceiling planes float over the lobby, conference room and break room with open slots to let light fixtures suspend through. The floors in the common areas are a rich, warm wood to compliment the building entry facades. Redline added multiple skylights down the entire main spine to allow natural light into the center of the building which otherwise would have been dark. Also in the main connector, Redline designed numerous graphic and product display elements to help showcase Wray Ward's work. Open office creative zones are flanked by team manager offices while providing informal teaming zones for creative sessions. Large copy/work rooms were located close to creative zones to keep efficient flow of work. The end product is a highly efficient, clearly organized plan with simple, refined finishes & details and work display areas that excite the interest of any potential client Wray Ward is entertaining.
