BGW, a CPA firm headquartered in Charlotte came to Redline Design Group with the goal of expanding their business in a new location and in doing so, wanted to create a dynamic workspace within Savona Mill, a historic textile building located in the Freemore West district of Charlotte, NC. The mill, which has recently been repositioned by Portman Holdings for office and retail use, served as a highly unique backdrop to this wonderfully bright and expansive office space, fitted with a large training room, open concept café, podcast studio, as well as a nice mix of contemporary open and private work environments. Redline’s goal for the project was to inject BGW’s brand and culture into the space, yet merge it successfully with the historic charm present within the mill. To bring this vision forward, we elected to allow the original architectural features from the building to remain exposed including the existing hardwood flooring, exterior brick masonry, expansive windows, and painted wood structure. We then juxtaposed those architectural features against new and unique accent elements that spoke to BGW’s brand to establish a fun, client-inspired space that feels both fresh and timeless.
